New: Pull & Bear Rotterdam

Went to the opening of world's largest Pull & Bear store in Rotterdam this evening. To be honest it isn't a mind-blowing huge store, but the clothes are pretty nice.
There were nice musicians, interesting cocktails (lavender-wodka), skateboard painting artists & a cool shopper as bonus.

Wanted to buy a bag i saw on the website of Pull & Bear, but haven't found it.... so i bought these shirts ;)

Coming Thursday i'm invited for a job interview as volunteer at the 40th edition of IFFR. Yay excited, the best cultural festival of Rotterdam if you ask me. Looking forward to 26 Jan - 6 Feb.

Movie hotness

Leonardo DiCaprio & Tom Hardy
Today i had a busy kinda cultural day (sounds good lol).
First i went to the Kunsthal museum with my mum, to visit the exposition 'Troostmeisjes' in general.

After that we watched Bavaria City Racing in Rotterdam and in the evening i went to the films Inception & Salt. I thought Inception was truly amazing but Salt was just Angelina Jolie turned into a fighting-shooting-rolling-climbing-bleeding-jumping-kicking Russian spy superwoman.. Don't know, it was entertaining but overdone if you ask me..

Something i noticed at Inception was the fact Leonardo doesn't look chubby anymore + Tom Hardy is hot hot hot.

With a view on the zoo!

PS: Today i got my vaccinations for Bali, i feel kinda weird in my stomach. We meeted the doctor this morning who immediately yelled: OKAY LET'S PLAY DARTS! Argh i wasn't happy to go & this words didn't work for me either xD

@ my summer jobs

Last weeks are full of work work work.
First three weeks everyday on my regular job @ the editor, coming two weeks i will have the non-stop interesting sight of an ugly carousel + thousands of children. It's part of a temporary playground to entertain kiddies during Summer. And after that... i'm pretty much done with working i guess xD

PS: My words of the day are en colère. Not that i'm mad or something hehe, it's just in my head.

A day at the circus

the woman in red with the uncovered belly is friggin long pregnant already & still performing ö

Yesterday i went to a circus performance with my mum as an early Mother's Day gift. It was called Michto and performed by the French "La famille Morallès".

All the family members are multi talents (singing, trapeze acts, making music, juggling, acting, etc.) and even their kids from like 3-8 years old did amazing stunts.
There were no animals in the show except from a tiny dog & some beautiful white doves, which they threated well (not really.. but okay). I thought it was a pretty great show, completely different from 'normal' circus performances! The show is part of the Circusstad Festival in Rotterdam which is from 1-5 May.

Oh and after i made these pics a stressed out young girl -who's definitely a new employee there hehe- whispered to me it was not allowed to take pictures. Okay i respect that, but it sounded SO incredibly stupid, because the circus performers told like 5 minutes before that they accept cameras but only when it's without flash! Like what. Don't you speak English?
They might be singing in French & Spanish but this was a clear English message.

Rotterdam Marathon 2010

Last Sunday i visited the Rotterdam Marathon, where thousands of people from everywhere around the world run a distance of 42 km. I'm always attending this event (not as a runner hehe) but i'm supporting the runners by yelling & clapping for them. How kind.

I always think it's a pity when people -especially from foreign countries- are running the hell out of themselves without the presence of any family/friends. They trained so hard & travelled so long for this!

Crazyness @ Bijenkorf Rotterdam

Some clothes + Clinique eyeshadow + Lancôme juicy tube for only €12,50 !

Today there was a crazy "unknown" sale @ Bijenkorf, where all kind of products were 4 for 10€.
They had  made some special place for it but it was still superrr crowded. Although better than years before, when i had to wait for 2,5 hours in a small hot space. Die hard....

Mission completed: my first IFFR -- movies & a semi-date

It was fun, the movies were nice, a relaxed atmosphere, Rotterdam was really sparkling this week!
I love the fact that most directors (and sometimes even cast members) were showing up to the screenings of their film.
They were talking about the movie they made, answered questions & gave hands to the visitors.

Today was my last day i went to IFFR 2010.
At 13 pm i went to J'ai tué ma mère; a beautiful movie about a cuuuute (gay) boy, who's also the director of this autobiographic movie.
After J'ai tué ma mère something funny happened!

The boy who was sitting next to me, suddenly started talking & invited me to the next movie.
It was because his girlfriend back home was a bit sick and depressed and stuff, so he was lonely in Rotterdam with way to much tickets. He was a 23 year old Dutch guy, with Polish parents and living in Utrecht.
Of course i joined him! We went outside together to get some food and then we went to All That I Love, a Polish movie about some boys who are starting a band during the communism problems in Poland in the 80s.

A movie with fun moments, a beautiful view of Poland and although i didn't knew a lot about this subject & country, i really enjoyed it!
LOL do i look so chatty & fun that even complete strangers want to be my company? No problem.

I also bought tickets for the two IFFR movies i talked about, haven't been to Vedozero because the movie has started already by the time i finally could get my tickets. Doesn't matter; i got the other tickets, some tea with Nancy in IFFR Café and Roarrrrr this awesome Tiger pin i couldn't resist hahaha!

IFFR first-timer

Guten Tag,
Finally it's Thursday! Two days no school, how nice.
Yesterday the International Film Festival Rotterdam has started and this morning i've checked the programme to see which films i like to see. I chose about 15 movies, but i'm not that rich &
i haven't got time to check them all..
Now i'm gonna visit the following three (if they're not sold out):

Vedozero  29-01 12.15
Italian teenagers film their everyday lives using cameras and mobile phones, while the film maker wonders how far one can talk about being an author when picture and sound are both in the hands of complete amateurs.

Let's fall in love  01-02 12.00
A Taiwanese tragicomic documentary about the matchmaker Chen and his clients. Director Wuna Wu documents bickering couples with everyday irritations and deeper relationship problems.

J'ai tué ma mère  04-02 13.00
The 20-year-old Canadian Xavier Dolan wrote and directed this partly autobiographical debut and also played the leading role. A coming-of-age story about the self-assured homosexual Hubert who tries to find his place in the world but keeps getting into trouble with his mother.

I wanted to go to Yo, tambien & Un Prophète too, but i simply haven't got time for them.

Lights on a rainy day

dark pics but you can feel the vibe hehe

Today i was in Amsterdam @ Amsterdam Convention Factory
for another student excursion, organised by my team.
The location is a beautiful former Stork factory, which you can really see.  Our guide showed us everything; on stage, backstage, down to creepy dark corridors... and those beautiful lights! Niceeee.

Mode Marché buys

DSLR Nikon D60 ring, mini glasses-necklace, bracelet

Last Friday i went to Mode Marché in the Nai (Dutch Architecture Institute) Rotterdam. It's an event where known & unknown fashion designers sell their goods.
I bought a black cardigan from Madé, and the accessories showed above. Haha the miniature glasses looked so cute, i had to have it!
